Map

Seaton Valley Countryside Park is the newest of Cornwall's Country Parks. It is situated in the Seaton River valley between the villages of Seaton and Hessenford near Looe.

Formerly a derelict caravan park, Seaton Valley Countryside Park has been owned and managed by Caradon since 1995. It covers 133 acres, including a sensory garden, ponds, cycleways and footpaths, with disabled access on the main footpath and to the garden. There is a cafe at the southern end facing the beach.

The Local Nature Reserve is popular with visitors and is also home to wildlife such as otters, kingfishers, dormice and fritillary butterflies.

On 19th July 2005 the Park became Cornwall's first Green Flag Countryside Park and Local Nature Reserve after passing a tough inspection with flying colours. The prestigious Green Flag Award is similar to the Blue Flag Award for clean and well maintained beaches and recognises the best green spaces in the country.

Seaton Valley Local Nature Reserve and Seaton Valley North (proposed LNR) lie in the floodplain of the River Seaton. Together they form a beautiful and varied reserve with areas of ancient woodland, three large ponds, wet woodland, meadows and of course the river Seaton running throughout their length. There is a level, surfaced path running through the lower part of the reserve (the Valley Trail), ideal for wheelchair and pushchair users (and also available to considerate cyclists). The upper part of the reserve is accessed by a narrow footpath, (the Otter Nature Trail), which can be muddy at times and has board-walk sections along it (so unfortunately not accessible for wheelchairs / pushchairs / cyclists).
