Award winning history
This private-owned museum opened in 1974 is set in a building that was originally used for making coaches and wagons. Displays include farming, the dairy, cider making and wagons. A special feature is the re-construction of a moorland cottage at the turn of the century.
There are sections on the tools of the carpenter, cooper, blacksmith, saddler, cobbler, tailor, printer, doctor, granite and slate quarryman. On the domestic side there is a wide range of exhibits from lace bonnets to early vacuum cleaners and a collection of Cornish and Devonshire pottery.
This winner of the Pilgrim Trust Award in 1978, shows many aspects of north Cornish life during the last two centuries, and has regularly changing exhibitions of arts and crafts. There is wheelchair access (not electric) to the downstairs area.
Just off the main road through the southern end of Camelford.
