History of a town

Callington Heritage Centre first opened on 2nd June 1994. Since then we have attracted nearly 3000 visitors. Our interest spans all aspects of the social and economic history of Callington and its surrounding parishes.

As well as being a place of interest to visit, the Museum aims to provide a resource for those interested in our local history, whether professional or enthusiast.

We also welcome visits from local schools.

The Collection

The Museum has a permanent display of Callington town centre circa 1840, and Callington Railway Station circa 1930. There is also a changing display of artefacts and documents. We stage three exhibitions each season.

Publications

The Museum publishes a newsletter, free to members, on a regular basis. Anyone wishing to contribute articles for inclusion, please contact Julie Johns (01822) 832898).

Activities

Talks and visits of historical interest are arranged throughout the year.

On the 4th March 2007 a large fire at the Heritage Centre caused extensive damage to the building and the exhibits.

Half a mile west of the town centre on Liskeard Road.
